1st Day of Kindergarten

It's been quite a while since the last blog, obviously. Riley started kindergarten and loves it! We have a 4 day school week up here in Rich county, so there's no school on Fridays. The days can be long and I worried at first about how Riley would do being gone for such a long time. It turns out that I had no need to worry. He comes home long enough to drop off his backpack and then heads back out to play. I went from one extreme to the other; Riley being home all day, every day, to seeing him only in the morning, then for dinner and bed. I must confess though, that I wish I could send him to school on those Fridays when he and Addi are causing my sanity to waiver. I know, it's quite the sob story! Boo hoo Kathryn, boo hoo!

I actually didn't drive behind the bus just to take pictures of Riley in class on the first day, but Jason did! No, I forgot to send lunch money with Riley, so Jason ran it up there and took some more pictures. While he was there, the principle told Jason that he was welcome to come anytime and have breakfast or lunch with his child. I love the fact that we, as parents, can go to the school and be involved with our kids on that kind of level because it is so small. How small you ask? Small enough that there are no lights on the football field so the varsity game starts at 4:00. Then again, they could just play that early for the warmth of the daylight. Small enough that the graduating class averages about 30 to 40 students, and that's after all the kids are combined from the whole county. Small enough, well, you get the idea.

Kathryn,
I too love how small our school is! It is fun to get involved, and have the opportunity to get to know EVERY kid in your kids class, before you know it, all your kids will be in school!
