It's kind of hard to tell, but this knit hat is made out of camo yarn. Jason said, "You know you're in Wyoming when they give out camo hats to newborns!" Too cute!

Our new arrival!
It's Monday, 4:45 a.m. and my water breaks. Ironic since the next day I'm supposed to be induced. Anyway, I wake Jason up and tell him at which he literally flys out of bed and is immediately dressed. Now that was a new speed record. I'm just slowly deciding what I should do next and come to the conclusion that I'm going to shower. As I'm doing that, Jason is gathering the last minute items since we've had our bags packed and in the car for the last 3 weeks! I only take about 10 - 15 min. and get dressed and he already has the kids in the car. We leave about 5 or 10 min after 5 a.m. and I'm not really feeling much of anything. I start to feel some light contractions and by the time we reach the WY border, the contractions are a lot stronger and faster. As we reach the town of Evanston,(which is about half an hour away from our home) the contractions are 3 to 4 min apart and getting very painful. That's when we decide to go to the Evanston hospital. (We were on our way to Salt Lake because that's where my OB is and that was what our perfect plan entailed; to deliver at Salt Lake Regional.) By the time we reach the emergency room, I had my seat belt off and kicked off my shoes and got out of the car. Jason took me in and said "My wife's going to have a baby now!" The nurse sits me in a wheel chair and is deciding whether or not to stay in the emergency room or take me to labor and delivery. By now the contractions are every minute, if not sooner. As I'm wheeled down the hall I start yelling that the baby is coming. The nurses are trying to calm me down and I'm freaking out because I KNOW that this baby is coming, besides I'm in pain that I've never experienced before and am starting to lose it. I get in the room and on the bed still screaming that he's coming. The nurse firmly tells me to CALM DOWN at which I scream, "He's coming!" and then promptly deliver the baby. I still had one pant leg around my ankle. During this time, Jason runs back to park the car and get the kids out which takes all of 3-5 min. A nurse takes the kids and Jason comes into the room looking like, "Let's have this baby!" I look at him and say, "He's already here", and nod toward the incubator. He clearly displayed a shocked look and said something like, "Are you serious? or, Are you kidding me?" Everything happened so fast that there was no time for the nurses to prepare for a baby, and no doctor there to deliver him. Everything turned out good though. Conrad was in good shape and I felt much better! My brain even started to slightly fuction again. From beginning to end, the whole process took less than an hour. Now that's a way to have a baby!

Now that is a story!!
Congratulations!
Katherine, Oh my gosh, you usually see that in the movies. We were just talking about how we wouldn't have our babies in Evanston. I guess we should never say never. my sister in a law is a nurse there Kimberly Stephens, did you meet her, I think she works in recovery. Bless your heart. You did it all naturally, you are one tuff chick, please let me know if you need anything. Take care. He is so adorable, you have the cutest kids. My other sister in law kim had her first girl there too and it went pretty good for her, but she had the Next one at McKay D hospital. Its so hard when you live far out of town like we do. Take care
Congrats! He is so cute!
Conrad is so super cute. His cousins loved looking at pictures. We are so glad he is here and that you MADE it to the hospital and didn't have him at the Port of Entry although they would have had a scale if you needed one. We love you guys!!!
Congratulations on the new baby. He is so cute. I can't believe he came so fast. I had heard that you had him, but I didn't hear the story behind his arrival. Let me know if you need anything.
He looks precious! We can't wait to see him in person. I've already told your story to a bunch of people! Crazy! I do love the camo hat too! Good luck with these first few weeks! We love you guys!
WOW! Now that is one serious story! I'm still in shock from reading it.....from what I remember, you have a problem with pain, so I'm seriously impressed that you could handle that, not that you had a choice! But seriously, one hour!!! That's even quicker than me, and my third took about 4 hours!! WOW!! I agree with Camille, it's about time you get something posted, AND what's the weight etc. More details needed. Congrats!! P.S. It was a dang good decision to go to Evanston......could you imagine doing that in a car off the side of the raod in the middle of nowhere on the way to SLC? Good call.
Wow you guys! I'm glad that you made it to the hospital in time! Congrats! He's so cute!
That is a great story. What I wonder is, will a doctor still charge you for the delivery?
